Forward Mode

This is where you write. The constraint is that you can only type forward. Removing backspace, delete, select/cut, and your cursor keys helps to get it down before you get it right.

Edit Mode

Once the draft exists, switching into a normal editor allows you to improve what you've written. Add notes, fix typos, reword awkward phrases, rearrange the text. Your natural ability to edit is welcome now.

Autosave on every keystroke

Every character is saved to your browser/app storage at most every second. On desktop, the text is backed up to your hard drive every 2 seconds. If syncing to Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive, the text is backed up to the cloud every minute. In Microsoft Word, the text is backed up every second (but, like all text in Word, is only retained when the document is saved).

Annotations

Leave yourself notes on any bit of text. Thoughts, reminders, questions for the revision pass.

Projects

Enjoy an unlimited number of projects. They will be saved to your browser, desktop, cloud account and can be exported for backup.

Own your data

If logged in via Google or Microsoft, projects sync to a private app folder in your own Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive. If logged in to the desktop app, projects sync to a private app folder on your computer. Your writing is never saved to our server unless you intentionally share it.

Encrypted before it syncs

Your writing is encrypted on your device before being backed up to the cloud. What is saved to the cloud is not visible to Google or Microsoft for training their AI models.

No AI

No suggestions, no autocomplete, no "improve this." The only AI available to you is Actual Intelligence.

Download your drafts as .docx, .pdf, .txt, .md, or the native .oodbo one at a time. Or export every project at once as a .zip.

Import

Import a .oodbo file, or a .zip of .oodbos, to restore.
